The
Orange Grove Bulldogs gave their fans an exciting victory Friday night
here at home. After a slow start, they came from behind twice to tie the
game 14 all with just under four minutes to play. In overtime, junior
Garrett New kicked his first career kick through the up-rights for a 29
yard field goal and the victory. The Bulldog defense turned in their
best performance of the year, holding West Oso to just five first downs
and 14 points on the night. There were several big plays that tilted the
game in the Bulldog’s favor. Here are a few. ~Coach Hall

Offensive Lineman
Junior
Quick Guard Garrett New had a
big night. His trap blocks paved the way for the
two scoring drives in the fourth quarter.

Special
Teams Player
This
one was a little easier to decide. On fourth down in overtime, Junior
placekicker, Garrett New stepped up for his
first ever kick attempt and nailed a 29 yard field goal to win the game.

Defensive Lineman
Senior Josh Fuhrken
is this week’s key player again. On a night when the whole defense shined,
it was his big tackles for losses that got him the vote.

Momentum
Play
The Bulldogs didn’t
give their fans much to cheer about when they had the ball until Senior
Punt-Return man Cody Gomez took this kick
back deep into Bear territory to set up O.G.’s first score.

Defensive Back
Senior
Free Safety
Kelton Craven
knocked away these
two key passes and
played the run equally
well all night for this
week’s vote. |

Offensive
Back
Senior Fullback
Andrew Garza led the team in
rushing yards. But this
long run to set up O.G.’s second touchdown got
him this week’s vote. |
