The Orange Grove Bulldogs lost to Banquete last Friday night by a score
of 28-20. Our Bulldogs played hard to overcome the 28 point deficit, and
in spite of the loss, there were several performances that warranted
highlight status. Here are this week’s players or plays of the week.

Offensive Lineman
Junior--Garrett
New
takes the top honor
again this week. His solid play inside is a big reason for any offensive
success. Here, he registers the coveted “pancake” block.

Special
Teams Player
Senior--Cody Gomez
had two plays that got him this week's honor. First his successful fake
punt was a momentum grabber that continued the Bulldogs' scoring drive.
The second was a “heads up” play on the punt return team that caught
Banquete napping and gave OG great field position to stage a “come back”.

Defensive Lineman
Junior Defensive Tackle--Bryce
Osborne “makes the list” again this week. He led the D-Line
with 9 tackles, two for a loss, and he also registered this sack.

Momentum
Play
Even though the
Bulldogs didn’t win this week, Senior Linebacker Josiah
Thurman’s fumble recovery and score stole Banquete’s momentum
early in the game and was the break OG was looking for to get on track.

Defensive Back
Senior Linebacker--
Jessie Salas gets on the board this week. He led the team with
12 tackles on the night, but it was this hit on the Banquete QB that
sparked the OG fans and sideline. |

Offensive
Back
Senior Tailback, Trey Porras
is this
week’s “back of the
week”. He scored a touchdown and had a big pass reception just before the
half, but it was his fakes and blocking that pushed him over the top for
the vote. |
